Med-Or organises the Roadshow “Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Collaboration between Kenya and Italy”

The event, held on 9 February in Nairobi, marks another step within the framework of the Mattei Plan for Africa promoted by the Italian Government

Med-Or Italian Foundation, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of University and Research, the Italian Embassy in Kenya, and Strathmore University of Nairobi – which hosted the event – organised the Roadshow “Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Collaboration between Kenya and Italy”, held in Nairobi on 9 February, within the framework of the Mattei Plan for Africa promoted by the Italian Government.

Organized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, in cooperation with Italian and Kenyan partners, and coordinated by Med-Or – which also moderated the panels –, the event sought to strengthen cooperation in strategic sectors such as water management, agritech, energy transition, digital technologies and entrepreneurship.

The roadshow opened with institutional remarks by Vincent Ogutu, Vice-Chancellor of Strathmore University, Julius Migos Ogamba, Cabinet Secretary for Education in Kenya, and Anna Maria Bernini, Italian Minister of University and Research, underlining the central role of academic cooperation in addressing global challenges.

The programme featured thematic sessions highlighting Italian excellence and cooperation opportunities with Kenyan partners, with contributions from ACEA on higher education initiatives in water management, BF International on advanced agro-industrial training solutions, E4Impact on entrepreneurship-focused academic pathways, Harmonic Innovation Group on innovation ecosystem development, Leonardo on advanced technological platforms for the Kenyan ecosystem, and Enel Foundation and Res4Africa on the educational framework supporting Africa’s energy transition.

The event also saw the participation of Med-Or’s Director General, Letizia Colucci, and concluded with final address by Massimo Khairallah, Director of International Relations at Med-Or, who reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to fostering dialogue and advancing Italy–Africa cooperation through education, research, and innovation initiatives.
